The people of the Goldfields, particularly those in the state electorate of Kalgoorlie have honoured me by electing me to be their State Government representative.

As a Kalgoorlie-born resident I am honoured. It is indeed a great privilege to represent the very important electorate of Kalgoorlie.

This region has always contributed more to the state than it gets out, therefore I was very pleased to be able to be the Independent that helped the National Party achieve their Royalties for Regions policy after negotiating with the Liberal Party, to establish the new state government.

My electorate received an immediate benefit from Royalties for Regions when the Premier Colin Barnett visited Kalgoorlie and made the announcement that the long awaited re-development of the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital would go ahead forthwith, with the construction expected later this year.

I have a number of other important projects that Royalties for Regions funding will hopefully be involved with in the coming four years of this Government. Once the hospital redevelopment commences I will be concentrating on three projects:-

  • The construction of an enlarged and new regional prison that will create an extra100 permanent jobs in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

  • Providing student accommodation for the School of Mines and thus protecting the long term future of the Kalgoorlie campus and ensure the School of Mines continues to grow to be the most important facility of its type in the world.

  • The completion of the 18-hole grassed golf course and the development of an associated resort.

    There are many other projects I will seek to achieve in the coming term and I am always interested to hear from constituents on what they want and their suggestions on how to make life better here in the Goldfields.
